The Makeshift Re-branding of The Houston Pavilions as GreenStreet Downtown

Houston Pavilions name crossed out. 

Bad start: The original Houston Pavilions signage on the shopping/retail center building and parking garage has been taped over and looks rather amateurish. Not a good omen. Why not keep the old name and old sign until the new ones are ready and the public has been made aware of the ownership and name change.

First City Bank Tower (1981)

First City Tower (1981) continues to sport the name of the now-defunct bank that had its headquarters there. The building still houses Vinson & Elkins, a major law firm; Waste Management, Inc.; and other tenants.

This skyscraper has 49 stories and stands a little over 200 meters tall. The Class A office building has distinctive indentations in the North and South façade, that make it easily recognizable. Unlike most other skyscrapers it is not rectangular or square, and its footprint is not aligned with the Downtown Houston street grid.

Law Firm Fulbright & Jaworski, LLC is lead tenant with building naming rights. Skyscraper was previously occupied by energy company Chevron-Texaco, and was named Chevron Tower.

Chevron now occupies office towers on Smith Street and at 1500 Louisiana.

MICKEY LELAND FEDERAL BUILDING

This building was named to honor the Houston-area congressman who perished in a plane crash in Africa while on an official visit there related to his commitment to famine relief and food aid. See project description for Mickey Leland Building upgrades (Block 916). 

The building is probably best known to the public for the passport office, but it houses numerous other federal agencies, including the EEOC.
